On Friday, our researchers and physicians discussed a paper that aimed to identify early neurodegenerative pathways in progressive MS.

MS is an autoimmune disease that typically presents as a relapsing-remitting course, followed by a progressive phase. Researchers aimed to understand the molecular pathways of neurodegeneration to facilitate the development of new treatments. Through extensive RNA sequencing of postmortem cortical brain tissue, authors identified specific receptors that could be optimal therapeutic targets in progressive MS. Further research must be done to assess the therapeutic potential of these molecular pathways.
